• The NBA player and his Community Team of Masnou will participate on June 4 in a big party of work, fun and citizen meeting topped with a popular meal.

The Ricky Rubio Foundation, with the collaboration of the Ajuntament del Masnou and the support of El Masnou Basketball Club, will carry out the rehabilitation of the Pau Casals court in Masnou in an action scheduled for June 4 and in a format of concentration and community work, i.e. with the participation and direct action of citizens.

The Ricky Rubio Foundation will also provide the cooperation of its Community Team of Masnou where the children of the project add to their non-academic training values and life skills such as assertiveness, teamwork, stress management, emotions, gender respect and self-confidence while playing basketball twice a week. Precisely, this Community Team takes place in the Mar i Cel open center, in the Masnou Alt area, very close to the Pau Casals basketball court.

Currently, the court is in a very noticeable state of deterioration as a result of the passage of time, use and vandalism (graffiti or cuts in the nets), which has encouraged Ricky Rubio and his Foundation to undertake an action of utility and social service in favor of the sport available to everyone.

The planned renovation initiative includes the refurbishment of the basketball and soccer courts, as well as other elements such as cleaning walls, repairing benches, children’s play area, table tennis tables and perimeter nets.

The event already has a large number of volunteers and the collaboration of the young people of the Community Team, who have also been involved in issues such as the design of the court, communication, search for volunteers and organization of the event, always advised by members of the TRRF Foundation.

The Ricky Rubio Foundation, the Ajuntament del Masnou and the club El Masnou Basquetbol have promoted a call to add volunteers to a festive and working day, combined, three hours long where there will be entertainment, recreational activities and fun, also with the collaboration of a company Move Experience, a specialist in this type of reconstruction.

After the party, with a popular meal as a finale, the goal is that the Pau Casals space recovers its quality to offer in the neighborhood and in Masnou the best conditions for sports.

NBA star Ricky Rubio will be present on the day of rehabilitation to greet all the volunteers and help in the work of the different sections.

In a second phase, after the community rehabilitation day, the basketball courts will be painted, about 450 m² to finalize its transformation into a spectacular facility and a reference for all sports fans.
