Coinciding with the Christmas Holidays, the Associació Esportiva Ciutat Vella basketball teams, beneficiaries of the Community Team program, have celebrated their winter festival this week. The participants have played an exciting 3×3 basketball tournament to measure their skills and ability to play throughout the day. They had good weather and a splendid spirit of friendship and harmony.
This is the Second Festival Edition where The Ricky Rubio Foundation has extended its collaboration to transform the Institut Miquel Tarradell facilities into a great basketball festival and the future of the children in the program.
Ricky Rubio has also been present within its capabilities. Last year, the players of the Community Team program challenged him to shoot a basket from the center of the court. This time it has been the player of the Phoenix Suns who has lay down a challenge: “Spin the ball around on your finger, drop it on your leg, and use the bounce to keep controlling it with your finger”. It seemed easy when Ricky Rubio explained it to them in a video.
On this Festival Day, the bravest has dared to take on this challenge. The videos that approach or exceed the expertise of the exercise will be sent to Ricky to judge and decide who, in his opinion, has best mirrored it.
Among the contributions, Cola Cao has taken part with The Ricky Rubio Foundation offering a healthy breakfast and a snack at the festival for 200 children from the Community Team of the Associació Esportiva Ciutat Vella to enjoy. For lunch, each participant has brought a typical dish according to their family origin and culture, providing a varied and delicious menu.
It has been a day of celebration with lots of basketball and a great brotherhood.
